Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Isles Inventions ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with our personal family budgeting dashboard (the "Service"). By connecting a financial account to the Service, you agree to this policy.

1. Who we are

Isles Inventions is a small, self-hosted personal project used by our household to track its own budget. It is not a commercial product, and we do not sell, rent, or trade any personal or financial information. Contact: brandontisles@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

To connect a bank account, we use Plaid Inc. With your permission, Plaid provides us with:

Account information (account name, type, mask/last digits, and balances);
Transaction history (dates, amounts, descriptions, and categories);
Basic account-holder details associated with the connected account, where provided by your institution.

We never receive or store your online-banking username or password. Those credentials are entered directly into Plaid's secure Link interface and are handled by Plaid, not by us.

3. How we use the information

We use the information solely to operate the Service for the account owner — specifically to:

Display balances, categorized spending, bills, and savings in the dashboard;
Calculate weekly and monthly budget figures;
Keep the displayed data current by periodically refreshing transactions.

We do not use this information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the account owner's budgeting.

4. How we share information

We do not sell or share your information with third parties for their own purposes. The only third party involved is Plaid, which we use to connect to your financial institution. Plaid's handling of your data is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. We may disclose information only if required by law.

5. Data storage and security

Data is stored on our own private, self-hosted server, not on public cloud services. Connections use encryption in transit (HTTPS), access is restricted to the account owner, and we retain only the data needed to run the dashboard.

6. Data retention and deletion

We keep imported financial data only for as long as it is needed for budgeting. You may disconnect a linked account at any time, and you may request deletion of your data — including revoking the Plaid connection — by emailing brandontisles@gmail.com. On request, we will delete the stored data and disconnect the account.

7. Your choices

You control which account(s) you connect, and you can disconnect them at any time.
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data via the contact email above.

8. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for adult account holders and is not directed to children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
